Trademarks, copyright, software licensing, and enforcement — protection in Pakistan and 100+ countries through one Madrid Protocol filing.

The Work

In trademark law, building a brand and owning one are different things — and the difference is registration. We run clearance searches, file and prosecute trademarks at IPO Pakistan, watch the journal for conflicting applications, and extend protection internationally under the Madrid Protocol, which has let Pakistani businesses reach 100+ countries through a single filing since 2021.

Beyond trademarks, we protect what technology businesses actually build: copyright in software and content, licensing and SaaS agreements, confidentiality regimes for trade secrets, and IP clauses in service contracts that keep your tools yours. When copycats appear, we move fast — oppositions, infringement suits, and interim injunctions before the IP Tribunals. Start with our guide to trademarks and the Madrid Protocol.

IP counsel for Pakistan's builders and exporters

Islamabad's software houses, D2C brands, and exporters create intellectual property every day and register almost none of it — until a copycat or a bad contract forces the issue. We make protection routine: a clearance search before the name is printed, a filing before the launch, a Madrid designation before the export order, and contracts that assign client IP on payment while keeping your libraries and know-how carved out.

Common questions

How long does trademark registration take in Pakistan?

An unopposed application typically takes one to two years through examination, journal publication, and registration — which is why filing early, before launch, is the professional move. Protection then renews every ten years.

Can I protect my brand internationally from Pakistan?

Yes. With a base application or registration at IPO Pakistan, one international application under the Madrid Protocol — filed through the Trademarks Registry as Office of Origin — can designate protection in more than a hundred member countries.

Someone copied my brand name. What are my options?

If your mark is registered: an infringement suit with an interim injunction, damages, and delivery-up. If not: a passing-off action plus an immediate registration filing. Either way, a legal notice often stops casual copycats within days.

Who owns the software I build for clients?

Whatever the contract says — which is why the assignment clause matters. We draft service agreements where deliverable IP transfers on payment and your pre-existing tools and libraries remain yours under licence.
