Family law, handled with firmness and grace.
Khula, divorce, custody, maintenance, and inheritance — steady representation through the hardest chapters of family life.
The Work
Family matters need a different kind of lawyering: firm in the courtroom, gentle with the people involved, and honest about what a court will and will not order. We represent clients before the Family Courts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi in khula, divorce, custody (hizanat), maintenance, dower, and guardianship matters under the Family Courts Act 1964 and the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance 1961.
Where reconciliation or a negotiated settlement is realistic, we pursue it first — a settled family matter is almost always better than a won one. Where litigation is unavoidable, we prepare it properly. We also handle succession and inheritance for families, including overseas heirs claiming inheritance in Pakistan, and marriage documentation from nikah registration to NADRA certificates and apostille.
What we handle
- Khula, mutual-consent, and contested divorce
- Child custody (hizanat) and visitation schedules
- Maintenance, dower (haq mehr), and dowry recovery
- Guardianship under the Guardians and Wards Act
- Nikah nama review and marriage registration
- Succession certificates and inheritance mutation
- Protection in domestic violence matters
- Court marriages and NADRA documentation
Islamabad's family courts, known well
Family litigation is intensely local: which family court your case lands in, how conciliation is conducted, how interim maintenance is fixed, and how promptly custody schedules are enforced. Our family lawyers appear in the Islamabad and Rawalpindi family courts every week, and a significant share of our practice serves overseas Pakistanis managing khula, custody, or inheritance from abroad — entirely over phone, WhatsApp, and video, in your time zone.

Common questions
How long does khula take in Pakistan?
A khula suit typically concludes within a few months — the Family Courts Act contemplates expeditious disposal, and reconciliation proceedings are time-bound. Timelines vary with service of notice and the other side's conduct; we give a realistic estimate once we see your facts.
Who gets custody of children after divorce?
Custody follows the welfare of the child — the paramount consideration — with recognised patterns by age under hizanat principles. Mothers commonly retain custody of young children, with fathers bearing maintenance and having visitation. Every case turns on its facts.
Can I pursue a family case in Pakistan while living abroad?
Yes. A special power of attorney lets counsel act for you, courts routinely accommodate overseas parties, and evidence by video link is possible in appropriate cases. We run family matters for clients across the UK, Gulf, Europe, and North America.
What maintenance can a wife and children claim?
A wife can claim maintenance during the marriage and iddat, and children until majority (longer for education in practice), fixed by the family court against the father's means. Interim maintenance is often ordered early in the case.
