Resolve the dispute. Skip the decade in court.

Arbitration, mediation, and negotiated settlement — private, faster, and enforceable in Pakistan and 170+ countries.

The Work

Not every dispute belongs in a courtroom. Arbitration and mediation resolve commercial disputes privately, on a schedule the parties control, before a decision-maker the parties choose — and Pakistan enforces the results. Foreign arbitral awards are enforceable through the High Courts under the New York Convention framework, and domestic awards through the arbitration law. That makes a well-drafted arbitration clause a genuinely practical remedy, not a foreign luxury.

We advise on dispute-resolution clauses before contracts are signed — where the real leverage is — represent clients in domestic and international arbitrations, and negotiate mediated settlements that preserve business relationships. Exporters and IT companies signing foreign contracts should start with our cross-border contracts guide.

ADR counsel for Pakistan's trading businesses

Islamabad's exporters, IT companies, and contractors increasingly sign contracts whose disputes will never see a Pakistani courtroom — they will be arbitrated in Karachi, Dubai, London, or Singapore. We make sure the clause you sign is one you can afford to use, represent you when a dispute crystallises, and bring the award home for enforcement before the High Courts. For domestic disputes, we tell you honestly when mediation will get you paid faster than a decree.

Common questions

Is arbitration legally binding in Pakistan?

Yes. Arbitration agreements are enforceable, courts refer parties to arbitration where a valid clause exists, and awards — domestic and foreign — are enforceable through the courts, with foreign awards protected by the New York Convention framework.

Is arbitration faster than court in Pakistan?

Usually, substantially — the parties control the timetable and there is no cause-list competition. The trade-off is cost: arbitrator and venue fees are real. We help you weigh both against the value in dispute before choosing.

Can a foreign arbitration award be enforced in Pakistan?

Yes. Awards from New York Convention countries are enforced through the High Courts under the 2011 Act, subject only to the Convention's narrow defences. We handle recognition and enforcement proceedings end to end.

What is the difference between arbitration and mediation?

An arbitrator decides the dispute and the decision binds; a mediator helps the parties reach their own settlement. Mediation is cheaper and preserves relationships; arbitration gives finality. Many contracts sensibly provide for mediation first, then arbitration.
